Ayers Sunset

On our way up from Adelaide to Darwin (4,000km!) we visited Ayer’s Rock. This picture was taken on the first day we visited, just as the sun was receding.

During this first night, we went cheapo and camped at the resort. Unfortunately my air-mattress went flat, and it was an uncomfortable night. What did we do? We booked into the most expensive room at the resort the next day! Woohoo! :)

  1. Great mood. It’s hard to side-step cliche with subject matter like this, but I think you’ve pulled off a fantastic shot. I wonder if the glow round the rock is the result of post-processing? not that it matters. Well done.

  2. Yep, you’re absolutely correct. I used two different masks – one for the sky, and the other for the earth. I tried to feather them to reduce the glow, but it didn’t work as I wanted. I wonder if there is a better method…
